Factory: Lowestoft Porcelain Factory
Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, decorated with a moulded low relief, and painted underglaze in blue with Chinese scenes.
Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, moulded in relief, and painted underglaze in blue. The oval butter boat has pinched lip spout and wishbone handle, and is supported on a waisted foot. The sides are moulded with pleats, reserved with scroll-edged panels painted with river landscapes, with floral meander borders on each side of the rim. The interior with a flower spray, a lambrequin border inside the spout.
History note: Bought at Christie's, as part of lot 41, May 26th 1910, by Mr Fenton on Dr Glaisher's behalf, with nos. 3161-3166, for 7 gns.
