Factory: Lowestoft Porcelain Factory
Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, with relief-moulded decoration, transfer-printed and painted underglaze in blue with floral motifs.
Soft-paste porcelain, with relief-moulded decoration, transfer-printed, and painted underglaze in blue. The oval sauceboat has pleat-moulded sides, pinched lip spout and strap handle with thumbpiece, and stands on a waisted oval foot. Each side is printed with a flower spray within a moulded leaf and scroll-edged panel in reverse on a pleated ground. A printed flower spray in the interior, with lambrequin inside the spout. A painted floral meander on each side of the rim.
History note: Bought at Christie's, as part of Lot 41, May 26th 1910, by Mr Fenton on Dr Glaisher's behalf, with nos. 3161 and 3163-3167, for 7 gns.
