Factory: Lowestoft Porcelain Factory
Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, moulded with decoration in relief, transfer-printed, and painted underglaze in blue with floral motifs.
Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, moulded in relief and transfer-printed and painted underglaze in blue. The oval sauceboat has pinched lip spout and strap handle with scroll thumbpiece, and stands on a waisted oval foot. The sides are moulded with rococo panels edged with scrolls and flowers, containing printed sprays of flowers, a chinoiserie landscape beneath the spout. The interior is printed in the centre with a flower spray, a lambrequin border inside the spout. The side rims are painted with floral meander borders.
History note: Bought from Mr Jolley in Cambridge, on May 25th 1910, for £1.
