Description

Soft-paste porcelain vase and cover, decorated with flower sprays in onglaze polychrome enamels and gilt.

Soft-paste porcelain vase, painted in red, pink, purple, green and black enamels and gilt. The vase is of slender baluster shape, with a cylindrical neck and domed cover, surmounted by a conical knob. It stands on a low partially glazed footring. It is painted with a spray of lilies and anemones, the reverse with a sprig of convolvus, the shoulders with a gilt loop and dot, and line, border. In a garniture with two other vases, C.3124.1 & A-1928 and C.3124.3-1928.

History note: Bought for Dr Glaisher by Mr Hunt for £5 at the sale of the Mr Levine Collection, Sotheby's, April 30th 1925, lot 115.
