Description

Soft-paste porcelain box and cover, painted in polychrome enamels with flowers and animals, and gilt.

Soft-paste porcelain box and cover, painted in enamels, and gilt. The circular box is of cylindrical shape, and has a screw-on cover. The cover is painted with an urn of flowers, a peach and two bullfinches on a marble table, against a shaded grey ground, the underside with a gilt foliate cruciform motif. The sides of the box is gilt with a band of berried stiff leaves on a pink ground. The inside is painted with a pointer confronting a brace of pheasants in a wooded landscape, within a serrated border, the underside gilt with concentric circles.
