Description

Soft-paste porcelain of a figure of an Old Man representing Winter.

Soft-paste porcelain containing bone ash, press-moulded and lead-glazed on the visible surfaces. The flat underside is unglazed and has a small round ventilation hole below the figure. The shallow base is square with rounded corners. Winter sits on a heap of logs with a square hole at the back to take an attachment. His left leg is bent and his right is extended so that the foot projects a little way over the edge of the base. He looks down and leans to his right towards a vase-shaped flaming brazier on the proper right front corner of the base.
