Soft-paste porcelain containing bone ash, figure of a PIgeon on a Rock, press-moulded with hand-modelled details, painted over lead-glaze in blue, yellowish green, green, yellow, dark pink, purplish-brown, brown enamels and a little black enamel. The hollow base is glazed and is open all the way up and into the bird's body. Two-thirds of the way up there is a ridge where the lower section and the upper were joined together. The lower third of the base is circular with swirling rococo scrolls and rocaille frilling in high relief, over which are applied stems of applied flowers and leaves. The rounded upper third is applied with larger flowers and leaves. The pigeon perches on the top, grasping the surface with its claws and leaning forward. Its plumage is painted in purplish-brown and brown on a white ground, and it has paler brown legs, and black claws and pupils. The scrolls are picked out in dark pink, and the flowers are yellow, blue, and dark pink, with pink or yellow centres.
