Soft-paste porcelain figure of a sportsman, slip-cast, with applied details, lead-glazed, painted onglaze in turquoise, green, pale yellow, yellow, pale pink, a little red, reddish-brown, grey, and black enamels, and lightly gilt. The unglazed underside has a large central circular ventilation hole, and three patch marks. The circular mound base has at the back a tree stump with one branch with two groups of applied leaves on the viewer's right, At its bottom are two applied flowers and three leaves. On the sides of the base there are two applied flowers and three leaves on the left, one flower and two leaves at the front, and one flower and three leaves (one flower or leaf missing) on the right. The hunstsman stands on his right leg with his left relaxed at the knee, leaning on the stump on his left elbow, and turning his head to his right. With his right hand he holds the lead of a dog seated beside him. His face and hands are pale pink, and his lips red. His grey hair is tied into a queue at the back with a black bow. He has a round black hat with a bunch of red berries and leaves attached to the crown on the viewer's right. He wears a white cravat, and sleeve ruffles, a turquoise jacket with brown collar, red lining, gold buttons and edging, and a black belt with a gold buckle. His breeches are pale yellow with a darker yellow band and bow at each knee. His stockings are white, and his boots black. A brown bag is suspended behind him on a black strap over his right shoulder, and a grey flask is suspended on his right by a white cord over his left shoulder. A smaller pouch is clipped to his belt on his left side.
