The first was / a stately figure with flame like / head dress, and said / In this rough world of ours, / One wins, one loses, / But all, from time to time / Get grievous bruises. / I try to soothe slight ones / That only are skin deep, my name is Arnica, and this is what I keep" / and she handed to the judges a number of little bottles of her tincture / saying she would be glad if they could be given to any of the crowd who / might have been bruised in the crush; and also to some of the competitors / such as the Poppy and the Saxifrages, whose homes and work exposed them to / such dangers
