Description

Gold, enamel, glass. Gold hoop with skeleton with a dart between legs, a crown at head and feet, and a book inscribed 'momento mori' with crossed sceptres and sword. Below the book, an hour glass and crossed mattock and shovel. Inside the hoop the inscription: N Nov 12: 1714/W of obt July.28: 1719. Small coffin-shaped bezel, containing, under bevelled glass a skull and initials 'NW' in gold thread on silk background.
