Description

Late Medieval maiolica relief with a face, painted in manganese.

Cream earthenware, moulded in relief with a face; the reverse solid and uneven. Tin-glazed off-white on the front and painted in manganese.

Notes

History note: Probably purchased from Kerin, London, 9 December 1933 by H.S. Reitlinger (d. 1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
