Pottery: Unidentified Orvieto pottery (Probably)
Late Medieval maiolica pharmacy jar, painted in manganese, black and green with four panels enclosing a flower.
Pale buff fabric earthenware, thrown, the interior is lead-glazed yellowish-brown, the exterior tin-glazed pale grey. Painted in manganese, black and copper-green. Cylindrical with flat base, narrow shoulder, short convex neck and everted rim.
The sides are divided into four panels by pairs of vertical lines, with alternating green and brown blobs between them. In each panel there is a central lozenge with three small leaves at the top and bottom, enclosing a flower, and, in each corner, a quarter circle containing three radiating strokes. On the neck, there are alternating vertical green and horizontal black blobs between manganese horizontal bands.
