Pottery: Unidentified Orvieto pottery (Probably)
Late Medieval maiolica centre of a bowl, painted in black and green with, in the middle a deer.
Pale red earthenware, tin-glazed pale grey overall. Painted in black and copper-green.
Circular with concave sides, the edge of a narrow flat rim, and narrow base.
In the middle, within part of two black concentric circles, a deer walks towards a plant on the right.
History note: Purportedly excavated at Orvieto. Purchased from Kerin, London, on 9 December 1933 by H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
