Maiolica shallow bowl on foot, painted in greyish-blue with a central rosette surrounded by a border of scallops, strokes, spots and concentric circles.
Earthenware, tin-glazed overall; three spur marks on the front. Painted in greyish-blue.
Circular with an acutely wavy rim of twenty-four arcs, which has warped during firing, shallow curved sides moulded with gadroons radiating from the convex centre, and low foot.
A central rosette is surrounded by a border of scallops, strokes, spots, and concentric circles. The sides are decorated with floriated scrolls and below the rim there are three narrow horizontal bands.
History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
