Renaissance maiolica dish, painted in blue with an overall geometrical design.
Earthenware, tin-glazed creamy-white overall with three spur marks in the middle. Painted in blue.
Shape 67. Circular with shallow curved sides and everted rim, standing on a flat disk base.
An overall geometrical design comprising a large central lozenge surrounded by four medium and four small lozenges linked by spots. The background is decorated with four-sided and triangular shapes filled with short straight and curved strokes representing plants. A narrow band and a wide band encircle the rim. On the back are three concentric blue circles.
History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
