Glazed Scorpion
Faience figure in the form of a scorpion. Possibly a reference to the Scorpion King, who ruled Egypt before Narmer- the first king of Egypt whose name that we know. These animals are both dangerous and protectors. In this royal context they were no doubt the latter. Faience is a glazed material that was mouldmade. It was commonly used in ancient Egypt.
