Description

Statuette of female, feet missing, now mounted in modern mount. Unusual wig, 'barrel'-shaped with geometric square. Unusually carved face with features slightly recessed. Filled dowels indicate original presence of arms. Portrayed ribs. Carved navel, and carved pubic triangle. Damage to left side of wig, and back of legs. Two holes above buttocks. Incised number 20 on the back of the figure? Label on base reads "Doll, acacia wood, lot 478, Sotheby March 29 1899 (32/- for 2). Ink inscription on the base reads 'XVII Dyn'.
