Carved wooden female figure, standing with left hand across chest, and right arm at side. Badly damaged, with much of the original surface of the wood lost (the surface on the back is missing entirely). Vertical cracks are present across the statue, and damage to limbs also seen; the proper left arm broken off at shoulder, and much of proper right arm missing. Both legs are broken also. This pose can be seen on other statues of women in a variety of materials (MMA 30.8.93). It appears that the figure would have been in a striding position originally. See MMA 04.2.351 for a close parallel, and a potential indicator of production date for E.GA.5844.1943.
