Possibly the preliminary drawing for the engraving by Koppel, the fifth in a series of five views of the Eremitage of Sanspareil, dedicated to the Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth. The theatre was part of the Eremitage of Sanspareil built at the old hunting lodge in the beech woods at Zwernitz by Joseph St Pierre [c.1709-1754] for Wilhelmina Margravine of Brandenburg-Bayreuth in 1746
