Fritware painted in polychrome under a clear glaze
Description: fritware, wheel thrown and finely potted, painted in blue, yellow, purple, black, red and green under a clear glaze.
Shape: cylindrical body, slightly waisted with plain rim and flat base. A tubular handle is attached to the body.
Exterior: on the rim panels are separated yellow or black horizontal lines and containing, alternately, black diagonal crosses surrounded by dots or stylised polychrome floral sprays. On the body, polychrome, highly stylised angels’ heads are painted in vertical friezes separated by green vertical lines. On the handle a vertical frieze of floral spays. On the base a scar from a stacking device used during firing.
Interior: undecorated except for glaze, slightly pitted on the base.
