Fritware coated in a white glaze painted with blue and lustre
Fritware, wheel thrown, coated in white, slightly pitted glaze painted under the glaze with blue and over the glaze with lustre.
Shape: carinated bowl with plain rim on a flaring foot ring.
Interior: the rim is painted with lustre above a band of blue. On the body, a pseudo calligraphic band, surrounded by scrolls, is painted in lustre. The base is divided into quadrants by blue, 'V' shapes emanating from a central star, both containing peacocks eyes and scrolls in lustre. Within the quadrants birds in flight are reserved on a lustred ground incised with scrolls.
Exterior: the rim is painted with a lustre band. On the body, vertical dashes are painted above further lustre bands, one of which is scalloped. Glaze runs over the surface of the foot ring unevenly.
