Fritware coated in a white glaze painted with lustre
Fritware, mould made, coated in white glaze painted with lustre.
Shape: fluted cylindrical body, carinated at the shoulder ascending onto a collared neck with bead rim and rectangular spout. Sits on a low foot ring; a strap handle is attached to the neck and shoulder.
Exterior: on the neck and spout a frieze of palmette leaves is enclosed by concentric lustre bands and a cable pattern. On the shoulder, painted in lustre, an inscription is surrounded by scrolls, while on the upper body another inscription is incised through a lustre band. On the body vertical panels are filled, alternately, with a lustre inscription or lustre bands inscribed with palmette leaves. The handle is decorated with a cable pattern and flanked by solid panels, both painted in lustre. Glaze terminates unevenly on the exterior foot ring.
Interior: the rim is painted with a band of lustre, glaze covers the surface to the upper neck.
