Description

Fritware coated in a white glaze painted in lustre

Fritware, probably wheel thrown, coated in white glaze painted with lustre.
Shape: carinated bowl with a slightly everted rim, sits on a high flaring foot ring.
Interior:On the upper body an inscription is painted in lustre and framed by lustre bands. On the body, a donkey bearing a howda, which carries a woman, is painted in lustre and in surrounded by birds in silhouette, split palmettes and dots. Glaze doesn't cover the surface completely leaving two small areas uncovered in the centre.
Exterior: linear lustre arabesques are painted in panels and framed by concentric lines of lustre. Glaze covers the surface to the foot ring, leaving the rim uncovered and a thin coverage on the underside.
