Fritware coated in a white glaze painted with lustre
Fritware, wheel thrown and mould made, coated in white glaze painted with lustre.
Shape: globular body, with attached long tubular angled spout, tapering towards a low foot ring. Slightly flared neck and triangular rim with a strap handle with thumb rest attached to the neck and body.
Exterior: rim and upper neck are painted with bands of lustre, the latter inscribed. The lower neck is painted with a chain stripe pattern. The body is divided into five panels with smaller epigraphic or pseudo epigraphic bands either painted or reserved in lustre framing two broader friezes. On the upper body the broad frieze contains scrolling half plamettes on a lustred ground containing incised scrolls. On the lower body palmettes, with triangular spandrels above and below are painted in lustre. The spout is painted with lustre and the handle is painted with a cable pattern framed with lustre bands. Glaze covers the surface to the foot ring where it terminates unevenly.
Interior: the rim is painted with a lustre band; the interior neck is coated thinly with glaze.
