Mazeppa bound to a Horse
Factory: George Cocker
Biscuit bone china figure group of Mazeppa bound to a Horse, slip-cast.
Biscuit bone china figure group, slip-cast. The flat underside has a large oval ventilation hold in the centre. The base is oval, with a smooth zone round the loower edge, above which is a high mound with on the viewer's right, a tall broken off tree trunk with applied grass or moss around its base. There are groups of flowers on the left and right ends of the mound, and a clump of grass or moss to right of centre on the front. Mazeppa, naked apart from a skimpy drape, is bound to the back of a horse which is lying on its left side on the ground. A riderless horse is leaping in front of the tree, and turns its head towards the one on the ground.
