Fritware with carved black slip under a transparent white glaze
Fritware, wheel thrown, with carved black slip under a transparent white glaze.
Shape: carinated bowl with a plain rim, sits on a low, wide foot ring.
Interior: painted with a black band on the rim. On the base a bird, with finial protruding from its head (possibly a crown), is carved in black.
Exterior: black band continues on the rim. Glaze covers the body to the foot ring.
History note: Frank Brangwyn RA, from whom purchased
