Success to the Fustian Dressers
Factory: Unidentified Liverpool factory (Probably)
Creamware, transfer-printed onglaze in black. The jug has a barrel-shaped body with a curved projecting spout and loop handle. On one side, in an oval medallion, is a tall factory by the coast, flanked by two smaller medallions showing a man with a bucket of wool by his side, and a woman spinning; above, on a ribbon, and below, repeated, the words: Success to the Steam Engine Erecd March 1st 1792’. On the other side, two men at a machine around a chimney withbelow them, ‘SUCCESS to the FUSTIAN DRESSERS/This a Truth you can’t deny/Our Work is hot and very Dry’. On the front under the lip are the words: ‘KING/AND’/CONSTITUTION’ within a wreath with a crown at the top.
