Frtiware coated in a white and colourless glaze painted with lustre
Fritware, wheel thrown, coated in a white and colourless glaze, painted with lustre.
Shape: bi-conical body with collared neck and plain rim sits on a narrow, flaring foot ring. Strap handle with thumb rest, attached to the rim and body.
Exterior: a frieze of diagonal lines on the neck is enclosed above and below by lustre bands. On the body panels contain seated figures reserved in lustre, these panels alternate with vertical bands of dots and scrolls. The handle is painted with lustre and a pseudo-calligraphic band, on the body the panel to which the handle is attached is painted with scrolling half-palmettes. Glaze runs over the foot ring unevenly, forming droplets.
Interior: painted with a band of lustre, coated with a thin, colourless glaze.
