Description

Dark earthenware mug with manganese iron glaze and oil colours.

Jug with pointed lip and loop handle. Covered with shiny black glaze and decorated with gold and oil colours. On the front, in gold, ‘Iames Hall Brazier Oversly-Green’. On either side a bunch of moss-rosebuds in colours. Round the top and foot, feathery scrolls in gold.

History note: Bought from the Sheldon Collection, in December 1925, for £15, by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge.
