Black basalt. Nelson is shown in profile to the left, after the loss of his right arm, and wearing the sash and star of the Order of the Bath.

Note

The medallion modelled by John de Vaere shows Nelson after he had lost his arm, and wearing the star and sash of a Knight of the Bath which he was granted in 1797. The mould, and original wax with de Vaere’s receipt for £2.15s.0d. dated 9 November 1798 are at the Wedgwood Museum, Barlas¬ton. He modelled Nelson as part of a set of Admirals; the others were Duncan, Howe and St Vincent.
