Description

Fritware, coated in a blue glaze

Pinkish fritware, probably mould made with decoration in relief, coated in a blue glaze.
Shape: cylindrical jar, tapering slightly towards a foot ring base and carinated at the shoulder. Angled cylindrical neck and bead rim.
Exterior: on the body a band of moulded decoration is dominated by floriated kufic style script. A narrow horizontal band of scrolling vegetation is just below the carination. Glaze runs over the foot ring unevenly, terminating in droplets.
Interior: glaze terminates on the neck, otherwise undecorated.

Inscription present: Rectangular paper label with serrated edge around bottom and right hand edge with a black rectangular border printed around the edge
