Description

Dark red-grey earthenware, moulded and dipped in silver (platinum) lustre.

Sugar basin and lid entirely covered in silver lustre. The bowl stands on a ridged, rectangular foot and has an oblong body with bowed sides and a small, rectangular parapet. The sides are moulded in relief with gadroons. The lid is domed, with a central flower knob. The underside is slightly concave and lustred.

Notes

History note: Collection of Mr. W.T.Lawrence of the Education Office. Bought from Messrs Gill and Reigate in 31 October 1905, for 21/- (one guinea, or one pound one shilling), by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, Trinity College, Cambridge.
