Description

Dark red earthenware, moulded and dipped in silver (platinum) lustre.

Pair of matching pepper castors. Each in the form of a square baluster, the middle fluted, the top pyramidal and pierced with holes. Round hole for bung (missing) on underside. Lustre coating covers whole surface.

Notes

History note: Bought from Mr Dando, 18 York St, Bath on 6 January 1915, for £1 (one pound), by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, Trinity College, Cambridge.
