Copper lustre teapot
Red earthenware, thrown and moulded parts applied then dipped in copper (gold) lustre.
Teapot and lid entirely covered in copper-lustre. Pot with globular body and high rim rising towards the spout, curved spout and loop handle. The underside is flat and lustred, with a narrow foot-rim. The lid is flat with a central, flattened knob and a deep interior rim which sits into the pot.
History note: Bought with a matching milk jug from Smith in Wardour Street around 1899, for about £3, by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, Trinity College, Cambridge.
