Description

Red earthenware, thrown and moulded parts applied then dipped in copper (gold) lustre.

Milk jug coated all over with copper lustre. Urn shaped body with a pronounced shoulder and rising, wide lip, loop handle and flat cone-shaped foot. The underside is fully lustred with a central indentation and a narrow foot-rim.

Notes

History note: Bought with a matching tea-pot from Smith in Wardour Street around 1899, for about £3, by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, Trinity College, Cambridge.
