Description

Fritware painted in polychrome under a colourless glaze

Fritware, probably mould made, painted in red slip, blue, black and emerald green under a colourless glaze
Shape: cylindrical body tampering slightly toward a plain rim, sits on a low foot ring. A flat angular handle is fixed along the length of the body.
Exterior: below the rim and above the foot ring matching friezes of half rosettes, dotted with red and reserved in blue. On the body, green and black cypress trees are surrounded by polychrome floral sprays including carnations and prunus branches. The handle is decorated with blue lines. Glaze extends over the body except for the rim of the foot ring.
Interior: undecorated except for glaze.
