Note

This is one of about fifty-seven recorded hunting mugs attributed to the Vauxhall Pottery, near London, and dated between 1713 and 1744. The inscription round the top is from the first verse of John Dyer's song 'Down among the Dead Men' which begins 'Here's a health to the Queen' or 'to the King', depending upon when it was sung.
