Description

Large dish. Hard-paste porcelain painted in famille rose enamels and gilding with three mandarins in a pavilion and six maidens on horseback.

Large dish. Hard-paste porcelain painted in pink, blue, green, yellow, black, white, aubergine, brown and turquoise enamels, and gilding. It has shallow, well rounded sides and a broad everted rim. The interior is decorated in soft tones predominantly of pink, yellow, turquoise and blue enriched with gilding with three mandarins standing on the balcony of an elaborate pavilion gazing down at six maidens rushing about on horseback holding sticks. There is a trellised doorway entwined with flowers to one side. The rim is encircled by alternating cell and brocade diaper borders reserved with emblems of the Four Accomplishements, together with the Buddhist Wheel and the Musical Stone.
