Pottery: Unidentified Liverpool pottery
Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue
Buff earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed greyish-white and painted in blue. Oval with a fluted lip at either end, flat shoulders with slightly raised inner edge on the side edges, and two handles in the form of foxes (one lacking its head), standing on a low footring. The interior is painted with a shield charged with a coat of arms: three pheons, on a chief a pierced mullt; above a helmet with a crest (a right arm holding an arrow).

A pheon is the heraldic name for the head of a dart
The form was derived from silver sauceboats, and was also made in Saint-Cloud and Worcester soft-paste porcelain.
Decoration composed of high-temperature colour ( blue from cobalt)
Press-moulding
: Buff earthenware, press-moulded with applied moulded handles, tin-glazed greyish-white, and painted in blue high temperature colour. The glaze has been wiped off the underside of the footring.
