Description

Fritware, wheel thrown, coated in a white glaze painted with lustre

Fritware, wheel thrown, coated in white glaze painted with lustre.
Shape: biconical bowl with a plain rim, sits on a foot ring
Interior: on the rim is painted with arabesques flanked by stylised birds. On the body, a frieze of mounted horsemen are separated by checker board trees. In the roundel, two seated opposing figures flanked by chequer board trees and framed above by birds and below by fishes.
Exterior: the rim is painted with a lustre band. On the body scrolling arabesques are divided by vertical lines, further scrolls are painted on the lower body. Glaze runs over the surface, ending unevenly on the foot ring.
