Fritware coated in blue glaze and painted in red, buff and black and gilded
Reddish fritware, wheel thrown, coated in blue glaze painted in red, buff and black and gilded in small sections.
Shape: pear-shaped bottle with narrow, neck and sitting on a low foot ring
Exterior: rim is painted red, below a frieze of buff horseshoe arches. On the neck, feather like leaves outlined in red and gilded are interspersed with buff or red scrolling foliage. On the shoulder, below a black band, a frieze of trefoils and lozenges are also outlined in red with occasional gilding remaining. On the body, further feather shaped leaves alternate with medallions containing a central star and surrounded by lozenges, both outlined in red, gilded and surrounded by buff scrolling foliage. On the lower body a black band, contained within red concentric lines, is dotted in buff; below buff arched lines which radiate towards the base. Glaze runs unevenly over the lower body, in places reaching the foot ring.
Interior: blue glaze continues on the visible interior surface.
