Tin-glazed earthenwre painted in blue
Reddish-buff earthenware, thrown, tin-glazed and painted in blue. Oviform body with a tapering cylindrical neck, and applied strap handle of shallow oval section, standing on a foot which is concave underneath. The sides are decorated with 'Birds on Rock' pattern in late-Ming style, with below, five narrow blue horizontal bands and a wider band round the foot. On the neck there are two narrow horizontal bands, the inscription ' IOHN POTTEN & SVSANNA:1633', and four horizontal bands. The back of the handle is painted blue, and below the terminal is the date '1633'.
