The vase has an elongated ovoid form, slightly splayed at the base, with a short vertical neck. It is made from hard paste porcelain, with painted underglaze in blue. The vase is painted with a mountainous landscape, including a river or inlet with a bridge and two men in a boat.
Signed, Hokuto in double rectangle. Japanese, c. 1870-90. Accompanied by signed wooden box (A).
