Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue with the arms and motto of the Drapers' Company, the intitials 'G/IF' and date '1682'

Buff earthenware, thrown, tin-glazed, and painted in blue. The jug has a bulbous lower half, a tall cylindrical neck and projecting lip. The disc base is concave underneath. The strap handle is rounded on the outside and concave on the inside. The front is decorated with the the arms of the Drapers' Company with the motto 'VNTO GOD ONLY BE HONR GLORI' flanked by the initials 'G/IF' and the date '1682'.
