The Monument, London
Pottery: unidentified London pottery
Earthenware tin-glazed on the front and painted in blue. Rectangular with an integral raised frame. In the centre there is a simplified representation of the Monument, London, flanked by the initials and date A/17 and W/38 (AW 1738). On three sides of the edge there is a border of lappets and stylized floral motifs, and on the frame a running border of leaves.
History note: Mr Stonor, King Street, St James's, London from whom purchased for £6.6s. 0d. on 13 June 1906 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
