Description

Earthenware moulded, with applied handles and feet, tin-glazed dark blue and painted in opaque white. Oval with flat base, gadrooned sides, outward curving wavy rim, and at each end, an applied lion's mask and a twisted ring handle passing through its mouth (one mostly missing), supported on three bun feet, the base of each pierced by a circular hole. Each side is painted in white with a Chinese figure in a landscape in late Ming style between borders of scrolls. A border of similar scrolls is inside the rim.
