Description

Buff earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in blue and yellow on the visible surfaces; the underside of the heel and sole are unglazed. Formed as a high-heeled shoe with a bow on the front (partly mising). The heel is painted blue overall, and down the back and front seams there are stripes of blue and yellow flanked by lacy patterns. On each side of the heel there is a rosette, and on the toe the initials 'IM' on on side and the date '1686' on the other.
