Tin-glazed earthenware, painted in blue, green and red, and sponged in manganese-purple
Buff earthenware, covered with greyish tin-glaze, painted in blue, greyish-green and dull red, and sponged in manganese-purple. Circular with a narrow sloping rim, shallow curved sides, and flat centre. Decorated in the well with a sponged manganese tree and shrub, flanked by stylized plants with blue and green foliage and a red flower. The ground is indicated by curved blue and green lines below the shrub. Encircling the rim there are two blue bands.
History note: Unidentified owner at Soham, Cambs; Mr Morley, dealer of Cambridge from whom purchased in 1893 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
