Tin-glazed earthenware stand for posset pot, painted in cobalt blue with a man and woman drinking.
Stand accessioned with posset pot with cover (C.1504 & A-1928). Buff earthenware with very pale greenish-blue tin-glaze, painted in cobalt blue. The edge, part of which is restored, is painted n a pale blue. The circular stand rests on three feet in the shape of small birds. On the stand, a man and woman in European dress are drinking (perhaps intended to be Lot and his daughters), with the sun, moon and stars in the sky, and the initials and date 'C T A 1686'.
History note: Purchased from Mr Stoner in London with C.1504 & A-1928 for £59 on 1 May 1917 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
