Buff earthenware, tin-glazed bluish-white and painted in blue. The pot has a bulbous body with a wide neck and stands on a low convex foot. In the middle of the front there is a curved sucking spout, and on each side, a handle formed of two conjoined rolls of clay with twisted lower terminals and a serpent applied to the outside. The shallow domed cover has a flange round the edge, two similar but smaller handles and a central vase-shaped knob with square perforations round its sides. The body and cover are decorated with Chinese figures in indoor or garden settings. The foot is decorated with a pattern resembling ju-i lapets and there are four further borders of scrolls, criss-crosses, and petals, perhaps intended to resemble small gadroons. The sides of the handle are stripped and there are Chinese scrolls on the front of the spout. The underside of the base and cover are inscribed 'PM/1701', with four groups of four dots.
